Free School Meals
If you receive a qualifying benefit and you have a child in primary school, you may be able to get free school meals, school clothing grants or school journey grants for your child.
All children automatically get free school meals when they are in:
- Reception
- Year 1
- Year 2
- Year 3
- Year 4
- Year 5
- Year 6
If you are on a qualifying benefit you should still complete an application form to make sure you don't miss out on other benefits such as free holiday clubs and support payments during the holidays. Your school will get extra money from the government, and that money could go towards things like extra tuition, learning assistants and after-school activities.
